Four patients receiving new organs in four simultaneous transplants performed by surgeons at Viet Duc Hospital earlier this week has recovered well.
The transplanted organs were donated by a 30-year-old man, who suffered from brain death after a traffic accident, said Doctor Nguyen Tien Quyet, head of the hospital.
His heart, liver and two kidneys have helped save the lives of four dying patients then hospitalized at Viet Duc hospital and his corneas were also received by the Central Eye hospital.
To carry out the operations at the same time, the general hospital had to deploy more than 150 doctors and medical staff divided into four surgical teams.
