National Assembly candidates approved

The Vietnam Fatherland Front has approved 182 candidates nominated by relevant bodies to run for the 13th National Assembly.
The candidates will be given 15 days from May 3-18 to campaign for public votes through voters’ conferences.
The candidates are also encouraged to get in touch with their constituencies through other legal means of campaigning.
Pham Minh Tuyen, General Secretary of the front’s Central Elections Council, however said the adoption of the list does not mean the candidates will not be further scrutinized.
“If any problem is later found concerning the candidates, the Central Elections Council will reconsider and treat the case according to laws,” said Tuyen, who also heads the front’s Candidate Eligibility Taskforce.
