A White House replica is officially on sale in McLean, complete with all White House rooms including the Oval office. It is selling for $4,650,000.Updated : Sat, April 16, 2011,9:31 AM (GMT+0700)
The 2,000-square-foot house, which has been there since 1996, is owned by a Vietnamese engineer who hired historical architect Robert Burns to help him construct it. The realtor, Chu Nguyen, said the owner built it because he wanted to pay tribute to America’s history and culture.
Together, Burns and the owner spent three years developing plans for the house and getting permits. The McLean White House is smaller than the real one, and it took time to recalculate the size and find proper materials for construction.
In 1996, the owner’s family moved in, and they are said to be selling it now due to empty nest syndrome since the two children moved out.
There are several White House replicas around the world, including one in Atlanta, according to the New York Times.
