Two people die in traffic accidents Sunday

One truck driver and one motorbike driver were killed in traffic accidents in Da Nang and Can Tho cities while three were seriously injured in a bus crash Binh Thuan Province Sunday.
At 5 p.m. on Bridge No. 7 which is connected to the Hai Van tunnel, Nguyen Van Thao, 37, from Dak Nong province crashed his truck into a mountain cliff.
Earlier, as Thao was driving through the tunnel, the brake broke. His assistant Tran Hong Long, also 37, said Thao managed to keep the truck from hitting other vehicles.
Long then jumped out of the truck and tried to stop it with various tools but failed.
As the truck got out of the tunnel and approached the bridge, it hit the traffic separator and kept traveling at about 50 meters before crashing into a mountain cliff.
The crash killed Thao immediately.
Around 7 p.m on the same day, another accident occurred on Can Tho Bridge, killing a 40-year-old man who was driving his motorbike in the car lane.
This was the first deadly accident that had happened on the bridge since it was first put into use last April, according to Can Tho City's Cai Rang District’s Police Department.
Earlier at 8:45 a.m., in Binh Thuan Province, a 16-seat van crashed into a 52-seat bus in Ham Tan District, injuring 3 passengers in the van.
The van was traveling northward from Ho Chi Minh City while the bus was coming from the opposite direction in Ha Tinh.
The van reportedly encroached onto the bus’s lane and crashed into the bus cabin.
